New Kalahari; New Colossalcon!

Me and the boys ("the boys" being the tiny men that I tote around) have been so excited to check out the new Kalahari location in Round Rock, Texas! Colossalcon is honestly a really fun anime convention, and while I've been to the Colossal in Ohio a couple of times, that location is not my favorite. As someone from Oklahoma it is just VERY hard to travel to Ohio on a normal basis without difficulty... The con was VERY fun, don't get me wrong, but the Kalahari Resort location in Sandusky is very far from any other hotels OR stores. On the contrary, the new resort in Round Rock, TX is much bigger, features a bigger arcade WITH RIDES???, and even has things close to the resort so you don't feel quite as

closed off if you absolutely need something. Last time I went to Colossalcon, I did not stay at the Resort, but this time we were able to score a room. It was VERY... VERY nice. It came with water park tickets included; and your room "key" was actually an arm band, so you didn't have to worry about keeping up with it. The band was also your ticket for the waterpark, as well as your charge option for paying for things such as food if you didn't want to pay a different way. I prefer normal cash/debit, but that's still amazingly handy.

Some of the little bakeries and such at the resort even got into the convention spirit and had themed foods! It was very cute, I am actually quite a sucker for themed foods. One of my favorites was a Saitama (One Punch Man) rice krispie I saw, and the Avenger themed alcoholic drinks at the Mexican restaurant my partner and I ate at on Friday night. I personally enjoyed the Captain America the best... nice and sweet just like the Steve we know and love, right? ;) I was very appalled that

they decided to name one of the food items "Dr. Strange's Corn" though. I don't think I'm ever not going to think about that...

Now, on to the anime convention, right?

This Colossalcon was definitely smaller than any other Colossal I've been to so far, BUT I think it's safe to say since we are coming out of and still dealing with a pandemic, that's not really a bad thing. I cosplayed Dan Mandel from Dan Vs. on Friday, and Spamton from Deltarune Chapter 2 on Saturday, but with a face shield/mask. It just still feels safer that way right now. I had my little Spamton buddy with me I got off Etsy for the adventure (best purchase ever?). The Dealer's Room was nice, but the artist alley was a little small. It had a lot of good artists in it, and I made purchases in both areas, but I do hope that they expand both next time. They could definitely do with more artists next time; I'm sure lots of people would like to get in! Sadly... I did not find any Spamton fan merchandise. lol. I had really been hoping, but alas.

Overall, this past weekend was a wonderful time! I think the huge arcade at the resort took most of my money though. I'm a sucker for arcades.

Zoltar Who? There are only chicken psychics now.
